The Ruins

Mr. Darcy has brought a disgrace upon the family. I am so sad about how this has turned out. I have tried so hard to bring him up right, and even after he is grown I have offered my unrestricted guidance. I do hope he changes his mind before the wedding. My poor neive nephew.

  1. Your character absolutely disgusts me! I cannot believe that you care more about your reputation, than the happiness of your family members! Mr. Darcy and I will be extremely happy together, and we do indeed love each other; if he married your daughter, there would be no joy among them. I appreciate your efforts to "bring him up right," but I feel that we have differing views on what we think is right and wrong.

  2. I cannot believe that at one point I thought in the same mind-frame as you do. If anything you might be able to learn something from me. I am in love and I want to follow my heart. I do not care about pride any more. Hopefully you understand that.

  3. I respectfully disagree with you. I believe that I am entitled to do whatever I please. I do not care that I was supposed to marry your daughter because I am in love with Elizabeth. So frankly I think you should just mind your own business.

  4. Your "unrestricted guidance" is lost upon me, dear aunt, because I have no intentions of marrying your daughter. Marriage should be for love, not a family bond or social status. Elizabeth and I are destined for each other, so do not try to interfere.
